To the new 2026 Vulcan Krewe, everyone at Fire & Brimestone would like to welcome you to our organization. You started this year out with magnificent warmth and kindness to all you have met on your Winter Carnival Vulcan experience. Enjoy, be safe., and most of all make our neighorhoods happy. Go forth and spread the great cheers with the classic ‘V’s on the cheeks of all you meet.

Normally the Krewe will have two or three appearances between carnival and the very busy parade season but this will depend on the Krewe and in particular, the Vulc. The fire king and his running mate or prime minister of the krewe, will work out the details of the Krewe calendar. There will mostly be appearances in and around Saint Paul. Many weekends will be consumed from the early hours to the late evening attending events, parades, community functions, volunteer events, special visits and social endeavors. This will be consistant until the end of October when the Krewe will do its final run of the year before settling into what we call “mother hen duties”.

There will also be opportunities for travel to our sister festivals around the nation and Canada. These trips are optional but few people ever opt to miss them. Believe us when we tell you that they are memorable lifetime ecperiences and are worth the expense.

The VULCAN Dress Code. Winter warmth is a necessity when dressing up as a Vulcan Character. Parade Attire – Running Suite, Cape, & Red Rooster Cap. Casual Dress – Black Turtleneck with Torch, Black Dress Pants, and Red Coat. Informal Dress – White Dress Shirt, Black Tie, Black Dress Pants, and Red Coat. Formal Dress – White Formal Shirt, Black Bow Tie, Black Cummerbund, Black Tuxedo Pants, and Red Coat. Black Dress Shoes for all Ocassions.

Vulcanus Rex (The Vulc) – The True King of the Saint Paul Winter Carnival. The King of Fire. Vulcanus battles to end the cold of winter and seeks to bring the warmth of summer back to the beautiful city of Saint Paul.

General Flameous (Flame) – The Army Commander, the Admistrator of Fire and the Keeper of the Flame. The Legend says that if the Flame dies, the Fire King dies and it will be winter forever.

Duke of Klinker (Klinker) – The Fire King’s Aide-de-Camp and the “Herder of the Flock”. The Klinker is the Longest Burning Ember and Just Never Wants to Go Out.

Count of Ashes (Ash) – The Raiser of Sleeping Spirits.  Ash is the “Swinger” of the Vulcan Krewe.

Prince of Soot (Sooty) – The Recorder of Past Memories. The “Ladies Man.” Sooty is Usually the Oldest Member of the Krewe.

Baron Hot Sparkus (Sparky) – The Commander of the Lancer’s Legion and the Stoker of Emotions. Sparky is the “Spark Plug” of the Vulcan Krewe.

Count Embrious (EB) – The Fire King’s Chancellor of the Exchequer. The Young and Romantic One. Sooty is Usually the Youngest Member of the Krewe.

Grand Duke Fertilious (Ferty) – The Minister of Propaganda. The propagator of Progency. Ferty is Usually the Member with the Most Children.
