What is the population of Saint Paul and how many show up for the parades?

According to the latest census, our city’s population is 311,527. Many of our parades bring anywhere from 3k – 10k crowds to this winter wonderland. Come and visit St. Paul during the 10 days of Winter Carnival. Add your spirit to this amazing winter event.

What day is the ‘TorchLight’ parade and whats the story there?

The Saint Paul Winter Carnival Torchlight Parade (officially the Vulcan Victory Torchlight parade) is the concluding, high-energy event of the carnival. Typically held in late January or early February in downtown Saint Paul. It features the Vulcan Krewe marching to “overthrow” King Boreas, signaling the end of winter. The parade includes local community groups, businesses, and the Vulcan Krewe carrying torches. The Route & Time: In 2026, the parade takes place on Saturday, January 31, at 5:15 p.m., moving down West 7th Street towards Rice Park.
